Winter Hike — February 20, 2010
Off the Beaten Track: Exploring the Natural History of Camp Everton

The annual NW Scouters' Club winter hike will take place on Saturday February 20, 10:00 to 15:00 at Camp Everton. We will step off from the Scout entrance parking lot at 10:00 sharp. Anyone wishing to camp over that weekend is invited to join the tent camping for senior Scouts, Venturers, and Rovers being organized by our DAC-Youth, Andrew Wyszynski.

The theme of the hike will be "Off the Beaten Track: Exploring the Natural History of Camp Everton." The hike will be led by a professor of paleo-ecology who is also an amateur naturalist with years of experience introducing Scouting youth to the wonders of nature at Camp Everton. Checklists will be provided to any Scouts wishing to work on badges with nature identification requirements (e.g. naturalist, World Conservation, Chief Scout Award). We will be exploring the rarely seen corners of Camp Everton, so be prepared for off-trail hiking and dress appropriately to the weather. Bring your own lunch and water bottles. You will have time during the lunch break to fire up your one-burner stoves and heat up some soup or hot drinks if you wish. For information, contact Scouter Rob MacDonald.
