Patrol Leadership Workshop — November 3-5, 2006

Ted reported that Wheeler Lodge at Everton Scout Camp is booked. Pierre reported that a Rover has offered to coordinate the kitchen. It was suggested that the program include a service project, such as wood splitting, brush clearing, or improvements to the Bader Campfire Circle. The fee for the weekend will be $30 per Scout.

The program will be based around the Scoutmaster's Junior Leader Training Kit, published by the BSA. This program will be reviewed and detailed planning will be done on Saturday, October 14 at 15:00 at NW Scout House. Anyone interested in helping with this is welcome to attend.

In order for the PL Workshop to be fully successful, Scouters need to understand how to put their newly trained leadership to use. A junior leadership checklist given to Scouters could help with this.

Fall Hike — November 17-19, 2006

Scouters discussed where to hold the fall hike. It was decided to start at Camp of the Woodland Trails (Milton) and hike clockwise on the Bruce Trail, Hilton Falls Side Trail to the Main Trail, south to 6th Line, and north back to the camp, a distance of about 13 km. This route includes crossing a high bridge over the entrance to a quarry.

Rob will make the booking at the camp. All Scouters should let him know if their troop will be attending and how many people are expected.

North Waterloo Camporee — May 25-27, 2007

Scouters discussed ideas for the program of the camporee, which will focus on the 100th anniversary of Scouting and the 150th anniversary of BP's birth. Some ideas:

Owen Sound Winter Camporee — January 26-28, 2007

Several troops will be attending the 44th Annual Owen Sound Scouts Winter Camporee. Registration information is now available the web site. It was suggested that troops should camp together to create a North Waterloo contingent to the camporee.

100th Anniversary Celebrations

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting, there will be a public campfire, overnight camp, sunrise ceremony, and breakfast at Laurel Creek Conservation Area from Tuesday, July 31 to Wednesday, August 1, 2007.

Multicultural Festival

Ted announced that the organizers of the Multicultural Festival have offered to allow Scouting to make a special display during the 2007 event, which will be held June 23-24.

Club Volunteers

The NW Scouters' Club is in need of a Chair. The primary responsibilities of this person are to prepare the agendas for meetings, moderate the discussion at meetings, and ensure that someone takes the minutes. Please contact Liam if you are interested or if you know someone who might be interested.

The website will continue to be maintained by Liam.

Pentagon: Campfire

In place of the regular Pentagon was the 3Rs BBQ, Social, and Campfire.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 21:15. The next meeting will be Wednesday, November, 1, 2006 at North Waterloo Scout House.
