Opening

The meeting opened at 19:00.

NWSC Spring Camporee — May 27-29, 2005

There were 136 Scouts in attendance at the Camporee. Financially, the camporee made a small surplus. Scouters discussed the event and made observations and suggestions for next year:

Introduction to Scouting Day — October 1, 2005

Scouters discussed the program for the Introduction to Scouting Day. There will be four activities in each of the morning and afternoon.

Many Scouts do not know how to light a match. This will be taught as part of the Stove and Lantern session in the morning. The Fire Lighting session will be in the afternoon.

Senior Scouts who are interested in helping teach a session should be invited to do so.

Viet and Matt will create an activity for older Scouts, such as a pioneering demo. It was estimated that there would be ten older Scouts.

Older Scouts will organize the lunchtime wide game.

Sessions and volunteers:

Patrol Leadership Workshop — November 4-6, 2005

Scouters discussed the program for the Patrol Leadership Workshop. Ted will book the Wheeler Lodge (barn). Program ideas included:

Pentagon — Evaluating the Club

The Club will celebrate its fifth anniversary in November. Jay volunteered to make a cake (if Liam reminds him). Scouters discussed how the Club has been successful and how to make it more so in the future. Scouters were generally very pleased with what the Club has done in the past five years. It has organized a large number of events, and helped many Scouters share ideas and get to know each other. Specific points of action:

Club Volunteers for Next Year

Liam described the volunteer roles that have emerged as necessary to keep the Club functioning well. The roles are:
Chair
Prepares and distributes agendas for meetings. Moderates the discussion at meetings.
Secretary
Takes and writes up minutes of the meetings.
Calling Coordinator
Ensures that interested people receive a telephone reminder before meetings.
Webmaster
Maintains the Club web site.

Scouters felt that the meeting was very productive.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 21:05. The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at Camp Mohawk following the 3Rs Potluck, Social, and Campfire.
