Club Officer Elections

Elections for Club officers were held.

Patrol Leadership Workshop — November 2-4, 2007

Liam reviewed the 2006 program. It was decided that this year's program would mirror it with some minor changes. The youth will do their own cooking in patrols this year as the Wheeler Lodge at Camp Everton has been reserved for Woodbadge Training. The cost will be $30 per youth member. To register, contact Liam or Ted. Ted will locate the whiteboards. Liam will bring the videos and update the registration form.

Fall Hike — November 17-18, 2007

The fall hike will be an in-town hike from Chicopee to Camp Mohawk. There will be a potluck dinner and camping at Camp Mohawk on the Saturday night. The hike will start at 09:30 on Saturday near the Chicopee parking lot. Ted will find an exact location. Scouts should bring on the hike their lunch and water.

Owen Sound Winter Camp — January 25-27, 2008

The group discussed the annual Owen Sound Winter Camporee. 11th Kitchener, 43rd Kitchener, and 21st Waterloo will be going.

Future Directions

Recruitment

Daniel discussed different options the Club could used to recruit more youth into Scouting. He told us about two Optimist Club sponsored event in the spring that we could set up a booth at. One was at a "Hot Dog Day" and the other was at their minor baseball tournament.

Other recruitment ideas presented were:

These will be discussed further in the spring.

Other Upcoming Events

North Waterloo Camporee — May 23-25, 2008

Jamie and Mark gave a presentation on how 1st Freeport would like to organize and run the camporee. They handed out a detailed report that provided details on how they would plan, organize, and run the event. Their suggested them was Space Camp. The Club enthusiastically endorsed their plan. Ted Claxton will book Camp Everton.

Pentagon — Summer Camps

The group shared their Troop's summer camp experiences.

Ted Claxton: North Waterloo Composite Camp
As always, a great camp for the youth to attend.
Ted Claxton: Haliburton Scout Reserve and Algonquin Park
11th Kitchener spent a week canoeing at Haliburton Scout Reserve and Algonquin Park. The youth looked for precious gems during a side trip to Bancroft Mineral Park.
Liam Morland: Lost Lake Scout Reservation, Michigan
21st Waterloo travelled to the US for a great camping. Liam said the camp was very well organized and the youth loved the events.
Ken Coyle: CCJ Cuboree at Camp Everton
The Cubs really enjoyed their week of camping and all the activities.
Jamie Leggott & Mark Panchaud: Bermuda
1st Freeport went to the island of Bermuda in the middle of the Atlantic for a week. They too also had a great time. Due to the constant vigilance of the leaders all the youth returned, even though a giant inflatable shark stalked them throughout the trip.
John Bain: CJ'07, Tamaracouta, Quebec
CJ was a great experience. The Scouts cannot wait until the next big event. In two years, there will be events in Oshawa and Nova Scotia.
