Scouters’ Social

Approximately eight Scouters were at Camp Mohawk for the annual Spring Thaw. The evening began with a smorgasbord supper of sausages, salads, and deserts. Super was followed by campfire with some rousing "Scouter Ted" songs.

Spring Thaw Scouters' Social — April 11, 2007

Scouter Ted could not stay long but did drop off some supplies and wished us the best of luck. Scouter Jamie arrived just as we were leaving and we had a vehicle meeting with him. The evening started off with most of the participants arriving around 17:30. It was a cold and very windy evening. The meet and greet went over very well and a lot of general discussion took place as is common with this kind of event. At approximately 18:15, it was decided to partake in the potluck meal. Sausages, potato salad, coleslaw, and scalloped potatoes with cheese and ham were all part of the meal. Along with Chocolate Swiss Roll for desert. As some of the food had not been opened it was decided that Pierre would see if this could be returned for a refund. A rave review was given to the cook (Michelle Coyle) of the scalloped potatoes and it was suggested that she be kept on in the future.

3Rs Scouters' Social — September 26, 2006

Scouters discussed the 3Rs Scouters' Social. It was agreed that pot-luck events can discourage participation since people feel an obligation to bring something. Liam described a Commissioner's Corn Roast event that happened every year when he lived in Ottawa. It was agreed that Ted would speak to Ken Coyle, who is organizing the 3Rs event, about changing the event from being pot-luck. The Club's funds will be offered to front the costs associated with doing this. It was agreed that a collection plate will likely cover the costs.

NWA Celebration

North Waterloo Area held a spring celebration on May 27, 2004. The 21st Waterloo Venturers presented a 15 minute Scouting multimedia slide show. Murray Fried setup a memorabilia table.

Scouters suggested that money could be saved by using a church hall rather then Victoria Park, which cost $160. A speaker system would have been helpful. Lloyd indicated he could provide one. The attendees appreciated the BBQ. Sixty sausages were sold. There were about 80 people in attendance.
